Choosing the right switching power supply is mostly about three numbers - voltage, wattage, and efficiency - plus the certifications behind them. Here is a practical checklist we use with buyers every day at MZMW.

1. Match the output voltage first

Your equipment defines the voltage. Common DC outputs are 12V, 24V, 48V and 60V, while some systems need 110V or even 220V DC. We supply all of these options and support custom voltage within the limits of the device - so if your load is unusual, ask instead of settling.

If you are running several voltage rails in one machine, a multiple-output supply can simplify wiring and save panel space.

2. Size the wattage with headroom

Add up the power of every device you are feeding, then add a safety margin (typically 20-30%) for start-up surges and long-term reliability. Running a supply at full load continuously shortens component life, so a 350W supply for a 300W load is healthier than a 300W supply pushed to its limit.

3. Think about the environment

  • Dry indoor cabinets - standard enclosed supplies work well.

  • Control panels and DIN-rail layouts - use DIN rail power supplies that clip onto standard 35mm rails.

4. Check efficiency and heat

Higher efficiency means less heat and lower running cost. Our metal-case series reaches ≥85% efficiency and uses ventilated housings for stable heat dissipation under full load, while our waterproof LED drivers reach ≥88%.

5. Verify certification

For Europe, CE marking is the entry requirement; UKCA covers the UK market. RoHS confirms restricted hazardous substances, and FCC matters for US-bound equipment. Every MZMW product line carries CE / UKCA / RoHS / FCC certification, and we can share certificate copies before you order.

6. Confirm quality control and after-sales

Ask your supplier three questions before ordering:

  1. Is every unit tested? We run 100% burn-in aging and load testing on 48-slot racks before shipment.
  2. What is the warranty? Our standard warranty is 12 months, with extension options discussed at quotation.
  3. What happens if a unit fails? We send replacements for small quantities and provide repair or recall solutions for batch defects.
